You’ve bought the devotionals, but she only opened them once.
You’ve taken her to church… and youth group… but when you ask what she thought, you get a shrug like she could take it or leave it.
You’ve encouraged her to read her Bible. You even bought her the pretty, girly one hoping it might appeal to her, but most days, it just sits on her dresser.
You’ve had the deep conversations. The low-pressure car ride talks. You’ve done the Bible studies with her, hoping something would stick.
You’re doing all the things.
And yet, sometimes you still wonder… Is any of it really getting through to her?
Mama, I see you. I understand you, because I am you.
You value your Christian faith and your relationship with God, and you desperately want that for your daughter too. Not for her to say she’s a Christian simply because she was “raised that way,” but for her to truly know God for herself.
Because you know there are a LOT of voices speaking into her life. And they’re not always telling her the same things God says about who she is, what she’s worth and where her identity comes from.
You want her to know God’s Word for herself so she can recognize a lie when she hears it, and focus on truth instead.
Maybe you’ve wondered if there’s something that would meet her where she is. Something that wouldn’t feel too preachy or too official. Something that she might actually enjoy receiving while also reinforcing the biblical truth you’re teaching at home.
You’ve come to the right place my friend, because that’s the heart behind Her Blessed Letters.
So, What is Her Blessed Letters?
Simply put, I write faith-based letters each month to girls between the ages of 11 and 15 that encourage them to walk through life using God’s Word as their guide.
Each letter takes something girls this age are actually navigating and helps them see what God’s truth has to say about it.
The topic changes each month and carries her through a 24-month journey, with a new letter being mailed directly to her every month.
About the letters themselves…
The letter always starts with a relatable story from my own life and experience. I want her to know from the beginning, you’re not the only one who has dealt with this.
From there, we walk through the topic together and connect it back to what God says. The goal isn’t to give her another Bible lesson or tell her what she’s doing wrong. It’s to help her begin seeing how God’s Word speaks into the very things she’s experiencing in her actual, everyday life.
The letters are intentionally gentle. I make every effort to ensure they never feel punitive, pushy or preachy.
And in all honesty, when I sit down to write them, I think about my own daughters. What would I want them to know about this? What truth would I want them to remember when they’re facing it themselves?
That’s the place each letter comes from.
A Sneak Peek of the Experience
The Envelope
Besides purple being my favorite color, it’s also a color signifying royalty. As a child of God, your daughter is royalty.
The envelope has a simple elegant feel to it. I didn’t want the envelope to feel clutter, but I wanted to make sure she felt special right from the start…
Hence the floral design and the salutation “Deliver to the beautiful” because that’s what she is… beautiful. And every girl deserves that gentle reminder each month.
On the back, I make it known that my goal with the letter is that it bless her. That’s my prayer every month.
I also intentionally add a short, theme-related, encouraging message on the back of the envelope. This is not only to encourage her, but to also serve as an encouragement to anybody who comes in contact with that envelope as it’s on its way to her.
The Welcome Letter
How confusing would it be for her to receive an envelope from someone she doesn’t know with a random letter inside without any context?
The welcome letter serves two main goals:
Explain to her what exactly Her Blessed Letters is
Share the ways in which I hope the letters help her
It’s fairly short (to my own standards given how much I like to write lol) and to the point.
The Letter
My favorite part… the best part, where I let the Holy Spirit lead me in writing something encouraging, uplifting, helpful, but also biblically based.
Beyond starting the letter with a relatable story, my letters typically follow the same format.
I give her a few different situations in which the theme might connect to her own life, then I introduce the theme of the letter to her.
I move into explaining why it’s important for her to understand why God’s Word matters in relation to that particular topic.
Basically, answering the question “What use is this to me?”
Every letter is backed by a core Bible verse that I explain very simply and practically. Keep in mind, I’m not a theologian, so I’m careful to make sure I’m handling Scripture responsibly and not twisting it to fit what I want to say.
Then I give some more insight and context explaining how the Bible verse applies to what she’s facing.
The letter ends with stronger, empowering and uplifting words where I truly try to speak life into her.
The Affirmation Card
To accompany the star of the show (the letter), I also send your daughter a theme-related, double-sided, 3”x4” affirmation card each month.
The front side of the affirmation card features an affirmation that is based on the main truth I hope she gathers from God’s Word, and also has that core Bible verse listed out again for a quick reference.
Oh the back is a guided prayer to help her take what she’s just read and talk to God about it.
I hope you can see that this entire experience is about more than the joy of receiving something special in the mail.
It’s even about more than the letter itself.
My hope is that, little by little, these letters help your daughter see who she is in Him. That they encourage her to grow closer to God, recognize what He says about the things she’s facing, and begin walking through life with His Word as her guide.
Because the world will have plenty to say about who she should be.
I simply want to be one more voice reminding her of what God has already said.
Is Her Blessed Letters right for your daughter?
The easiest way for me to help you determine whether these letters would be something your daughter would want is by taking you through a few questions to think about:
Are you looking for an in-depth Bible study for her? - If so, Her Blessed Letters probably isn’t what you’re looking for. These letters intentionally keep Scripture simple and practical, helping her see how God’s Word connects to the things she’s experiencing in everyday life.
Does she actually like reading? - Each monthly letter is front and back, so this experience will naturally be a better fit for a girl who doesn’t mind sitting down and reading something that’s a little longer.
Does she enjoy receiving mail? - If she likes getting mail with her name on it, the monthly delivery gives her something of her own to look forward to.
Would she be open to encouragement from another voice? - These letters don’t lecture her or tell her what she’s doing wrong, but they meet her where she is and point her back to what God says.
This won’t be the right fit for every girl and that’s okay if it isn’t. But I hope this helps you recognize whether these letters would fit in your daughter’s life.
